With the change in the regulation published in the Official Gazette on August 9, it paved the way for the food leftovers in cafeterias and restaurants to be converted into compost manure and food for cats and dogs. Thus, it is planned to prevent food waste, which is worth 555 billion liras in Turkey and reaches 18 million tons per year.
LET IT BE FOOD, NOT WASTE
Taner Mirzabey, Chairman of the Board of OPSİS Group, the first domestic food machinery manufacturer of Turkey, said, “As MRZ Environmental Technologies Company, we have been producing machines that can make compost and cat-dog food from food waste in 24 hours since 2009. As we have our machines in almost every province of Turkey, we have also started export activities. We are working for sustainability projects that benefit our country, on the zero waste path that we set out with the slogan of 'no waste, no food'.
