With the development of modernization, people pay more attention to environmental protection and green life. Organic matter ratio is high in wastes in developing Turkey. The Compost Communiqué, which entered into force in Turkey in 2015, obliges all municipalities to separate bio-waste at source instead of sending it to solid waste landfills.
Composting becomes an effective way to deal with large volumes of organic waste.
Composting is the natural process of converting organic matter, such as leaves and food scraps, into valuable fertilizer that can enrich soil and plants. composting speeds up the process by providing an ideal environment for bacteria, fungi and other decomposing organisms to do their work.
Composting generally consists of the processing of solid waste, the biodegradation of organic parts, and the preparation and marketing of the final compost product.
Organic waste can be processed in industrial-scale composting plants, smaller-scale community composting systems, and anaerobic digesters, among other options. Cities and individual businesses and vendors can also pioneer zero waste strategies in their jurisdictions to increase composting and recycling rates and prevent waste in the first place.
The transformation of the organic matter in the waste into bacteria in hot and humid conditions in the presence of air is called composting, and the final product obtained after bacterial activity is called compost, which has a very high agricultural value.
